History

1931: Company founded by Franz Wiesbauer in Ottakring, Vienna. Creation of the Bergsteiger Sausage.
   

1979:

Wiesbauer becomes an established model business within its line of trade.

   

1985:

Bergsteiger” becomes Austria’s no. 1 in the sector of long-lasting sausages (Nielsen).

   

1986:

Manufacture (under licence) of our trademarked product Bergsteiger Dauerwurst in Germany as “Wiesbauer Salami”.

   

1988:

Takeover of Neumann, therefore opening of a new sales channel “Hotels-Catering-Industrial Kitchens”.

   

1993:

Vienna: Commencement of construction of our new production facility with investment costs totalling € 31 million.

   

1994:

Acquisition of a plant in Hungary with the name “Wiesbauer-Dunahús” to develop the market in Hungary and other East European countries.

   

1995:

Commencement of manufacture in the new future-orientated plant in Liesing, Vienna. Austria’s entry into the EU enables direct exporting activities within our own distribution structure in Germany.

 
   

1997:

MERCUR 1997 – award of the Viennese Chamber of Commerce Innovation Prize for the “General process design concept for the new production plant”.

   

1998:

Hungary: the new EU-standard production plant “Wiesbauer-Dunahús” goes into operation.

   

2000:

Successful launch of sliced products – first round slices for extra-large sausage.

   

2001:

According to AC Nielsen comparative study July 2001 Wiesbauer is the best known sausage brand.

   

2003:

Takeover of Teufner Ges.m.b.H (now: Wiesbauer Gourmet Gastro GmbH) – one of the leading suppliers of meat and sausage items in Austria for communal catering and catering customers, industrial kitchens, canteens, and system catering.

  On May, 13th 2003, Mrs. Maria Wiesbauer, widow of the company’s founder, died at the age of 91 in Vienna.
   
2007: Foundation of the Slovenian subsidiary “Wiesbauer d.o.o“, installation of a distribution system in South Eastern Europe.
   
2008: Introduction of the brand “Wiesbauer Exquisit“ for premium ham.
   
2009: Ground-breaking ceremony for the extension of Wiesbauer´s production site
(investment volume 12 mill. Euro) 
   
  „Wiener Prater Stelze” selected to the Produkt Champion 2009 in the sector selfservice.
   
2010: „Brat Hax’n“ honored with the Meat-Star Marketing Award 2010 for „Best Innovation“

  KommR Karl Schmiedbauer wins the category Retail & Consumer goods with the title of “Enterpreneur of the Year” which is awarded by the consulting company Ernst & Young.
   
 
Commissioning of the extension to the Wiesbauer Produktion in Vienna Liesing which created 100 new jobs

2011: Takeover of butcher Metzgerei Senninger GmbH in Saalbach / Hinterglemm

2012: Acquisition of Viennese based speciality company „meat & more“, in order to boost the Wiesbauer Group’s the food service business even more 
   
  Wiesbauer – the essential sausage-trade mark: results from a study of the Austrian market research institute “Market”
   
  „roasted turkey joint“ – was selected Product Champion 2012 in the category poultry
   
2013: "roasted turkey joint" – was selected Top-Product 2013
